         When installing a new or replacement hard drive in a IBM - PC
         with a Western Digital Hard Drive Adapter, you must run a
         special format accessed through Debug on the Supplemental
         Programs DOS disks. Run Debug and at the "-" prompt enter
         "G= C 800:5", accept the standard defaults and the drive will
         format. After this format is complete, run the standard
         FDISK and FORMAT routines and the drive will be ready to go.

The controller holds a host ROM that defines the type of hard disk(s)
attached. There are also 8 jumpers that further define the drive types.
Currently available ROMs are:

        A>DEBUG
2. At the debug prompt, type the following lines;
        -rax
        ax 0000  (cpu reply)

        -g=c800:5
3. when the program asked for confirmation reply with Y. This program must be
run twice if formatting 2 drives. Wait for format succesful message.

4. With newer ROMs such as the 43-010 and no table specified, additional input
is required as follows;
        WX2 format revision T.n (etc)
        key in drive no. and interleave as follows: d ii
        Enter relative drive no. (0-1) followed by space
        Enter interleave factor (1-16) 3 is standard

The next message to appear will ask for drive characteristics as follows:
ccc rrr ppp ee oo wher
        ccc = total number of cylingers (1-4 digits)
        h = number of heads (1-2 digits)
        rrr = starting reduced write cylinder (1-4 digits)
        ppp = write precomp cylinder (1-4)
        ee = jmax correctable error burst length (1-2 digits)
        oo = CCB option byte (1 hex digit)
Defaults for rrr = max cyl +1, write precomp = max cyl +1
        Maximum correctable error burst length = 11 bits
        CCB option byte = 05
Enter this information if it is available for the drive being installed.
