TITLE: Ascentia M, Restore CD, Dock Drivers

ISSUE

After completing a Hard Disk Restore on the Ascentia M, the
customer needs to update the IDE controller drivers for the
Docking Station. If this action is not completed prior to docking
to a Docking Station II, the system will go into DOS
compatibility mode.

This issue affects all Ascentia M systems and Docking Station II
combinations.

BACKGROUND

N/A

ACTION

To resolve the issue, perform the following:

1. Obtain file DOCK.EXE from one of AST's On-Line!
forums as follows:

AST WWW Site: http://www.ast.com
AST On-Line! BBS*: See IB0001.TXT
CompuServe: GO: ASTFORUM
Prodigy: JUMP: ASTSUPPORT

* Refer to IB0001.TXT for a list of AST's
international BBS numbers.

To decompress this file, create a temporary directory
on your hard drive, copy the downloaded file to that
directory, and run the file.

2. a. To load the drivers, run W95SETUP.EXE.

b. Do NOT load the drivers while docked.

c. It is optimal to load the drivers prior to docking
for the first time. If the drivers are loaded
following an initial docking and the creation of a
"Docked" configuration, it may be necessary to
remove the "Docked" configuration, reload the
IDE drivers, and then dock to recreate a "Docked"
configuration.

NOTES

Make sure that the Dock drivers are loaded prior to docking for
the first time, and never load the drivers during a docked
session.
