CASSETTE DECK OPERATION

TAPE PLAYBACK (TAPE 1)

1.  Press the POWER button to switch the power ON (button IN).

2.  Insert a prerecorded cassette into TAPE 1 with the full reel on the
    left, the side to be played facing out, and the exposed tape facing
    down.

3.  Set the DOLBY NR button to the correct position.

4.  Press the TAPE 1 PLAY button.

5.  Adjust the VOLUME, BALANCE and GRAPHIC EQUALIZER controls as desired.

6.  To temporarily stop playback, press the TAPE 1 PAUSE button.  Press it
    again to resume playback.

7.  Press the TAPE 1 STOP/EJECT button at any time to stop the TAPE 1
    playback.

      TAPE 1 automatically stops when the end of one side of the tape is
      reached.

AUTOMATIC REVERSE PLAYBACK (TAPE 2)

1.  Press the POWER button to switch the power ON (button IN).

2.  Insert a prerecorded cassette into TAPE 2 with the full reel on the
    left, the side to be played facing out, and the exposed tape facing
    down.

3.  If necessary, press the TAPE 2 DIRECTION button to select the side of
    the tape to be played.

4.  Set the DOLBY NR button to the correct position.

5.  Press the TAPE 2 REVERSE MODE button to select the one-cycle or
    continuous-play mode.

    Continuous-play mode (button UP): CURVED RIGHT AND LEFT SIGNAL

    Both sides of the tape will be played continuously, until the TAPE 2
    STOP/EJECT button is pressed.

    One-cycle mode (button DOWN): CURVED LEFT SIGNAL

    When the end of the tape is reached in the reverse direction, the tape
    will stop.

6.  Press the TAPE 2 PLAY button.

7.  Adjust the VOLUME, BALANCE and GRAPHIC EQUALIZER controls as desired.

8.  Press the TAPE 2 STOP/EJECT button at any time to stop the tape.

MANUAL REVERSE PLAYBACK (TAPE 2)

Press the TAPE 2 DIRECTION button at any time to play the other side of
the tape during playback.

CONSECUTIVE PLAY FROM TAPE 2 TO (TAPE 1)

1.  Press the POWER button to switch the power ON (button IN).

2.  Insert a prerecorded cassette into each deck as described in
    "TAPE PLAYBACK."

3.  Set the DOLBY NR button to the correct position.

4.  Press the TAPE 2 REVERSE MODE button to select the one-cycle mode
    (button DOWN).

5.  If necessary, press the TAPE 2 DIRECTION button to select the side of
    the tape to be played.

6.  Press the TAPE 2 PLAY button.

7.  Press the TAPE 1 PAUSE button.

8.  Press the TAPE 1 PLAY button.

9.  Adjust the VOLUME, BALANCE and GRAPHIC EQUALIZER controls as desired.

10. Press both STOP/EJECT buttons at any time to stop consecutive
    playback.

11. When TAPE 2 playback is finished, the TAPE 2 PLAY and TAPE 1 PAUSE
    buttons are released and TAPE 1 playback begins.

12. Press the TAPE 1 STOP/EJECT button at any time to stop the TAPE 1
    playback.

    TAPE 1 automatically stops when the end of one side of the tape is
    reached.

NOTES:  Consecutive playback is not possible when the TAPE 2 REVERSE MODE
        button is set to the continuous-play mode (button UP).

        Consecutive playback from TAPE 1 to TAPE 2 is not possible.

FAST FORWARD and REWIND

1.  Press the STOP/EJECT button to stop the tape.

2.  Press the FAST-F/RIGHT ARROW or REWIND/LEFT ARROW button to quickly
    advance or rewind the tape.

3.  TAPE 1:  The tape in TAPE 1 will automatically stop when the beginning
             or end of the tape is reached.

    TAPE 2:  Press the TAPE 2 STOP/EJECT button as soon as the beginning
             or end of the tape is reached.

DUBBING

PREPARATION FOR DUBBING (COPYING)

1.  Press the POWER button to switch the power ON (button IN).

2.  Press the DUBBING button to select ON (button IN).

    CAUTION:  Do not press the HIGH SPEED button while dubbing.

3.  Insert a blank cassette to be recorded on into TAPE 1 with the full
    reel on the left, the side to be recorded on facing out, and the
    exposed tape facing down.

    Insert a prerecorded cassette into TAPE 2 with the full reel on the
    left, the side to be copied facing out, and the exposed tape facing
    down.

4.  If necessary, press the TAPE 2 DIRECTION button to select the side of
    the tape to be copied.

5.  Press the TAPE 1 RECORD button.  The TAPE 1 PLAY button will lock down
    at the same time.

6.  Follow the instructions for normal or high speed dubbing.

NOTES:  When the end of the tape is reached while dubbing in the forward
        direction of TAPE 2, press both STOP/EJECT buttons.

        When the end of the tape is reached while dubbing in the reverse
        direction of TAPE 2, press the TAPE 1 STOP/EJECT button at once or
        the remaining tape in TAPE 1 will be erased.

        The DOLBY Noise Reduction system does not affect dubbing.
        Cassettes will be dubbed in the same format as originally
        recorded:

        -  Cassettes originally recorded with DOLBY Noise Reduction will
           automatically be dubbed with DOLBY Noise Reduction.

        -  Cassettes originally recorded without DOLBY Noise Reduction
           will automatically be dubbed without DOLBY Noise Reduction.

        The DOLBY NR system does not affect the sound heard through the
        speakers.

        Set the DOLBY NR button to the correct position when using normal
        speed dubbing to have sound through the speakers correctly.

CAUTION:  Do not press the HIGH SPEED button while dubbing.

NORMAL/HIGH SPEED DUBBING

1.  Set the HIGH SPEED button to OFF (button OUT) for normal speed
    dubbing.

    Set the HIGH SPEED button to ON (button IN) for high speed dubbing.

2.  Press the TAPE 2 PLAY button.  The selected dubbing speed begins.

    Adjust the VOLUME, BALANCE and GRAPHIC EQUALIZER controls as desired.

    Press both STOP/EJECT buttons at the same time to stop dubbing.

NOTE:  If high speed dubbing is used near a television that is tuned to a
       station, a high-pitched sound might be recorded.  If this occurs,
       begin recording again using normal speed dubbing.

EDIT DUBBING

1.  While dubbing, press both STOP/EJECT buttons at the same time to stop
    the tapes.

2.  Press the TAPE 2 RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW button to advance or return
    the tape to the point where you want to continue recording.

3.  Press the TAPE 2 STOP/EJECT button to stop the tape.

4.  Press the TAPE 1 RECORD button.  The TAPE 1 PLAY button will lock down
    at the same time.

5.  Press the TAPE 2 PLAY button to continue dubbing.

MANUAL DUBBING

1.  Set the DUBBING button to OFF (button OUT).

2.  Press the TAPE 1 PAUSE button.

3.  Press the TAPE 1 RECORD button.  The TAPE 1 PLAY button will lock down
    at the same time.

4.  Press the TAPE 2 PLAY button.

    THE TAPE 1 PAUSE button is released and normal speed dubbing begins.
