Multimeter (220-0179) Continuity Check Faxback Doc. # 6270

The continuity check function helps you check for shorted or open
electrical circuits.

1. Set the function switch .))) CONT. OL,.))) , and ohms appear on the
display. The range automatically sets to 400ohms.

Caution: Do not connect the test leads to a source of voltage when you
set the function switch to .))) CONT. Doing so might
         damage the multimeter.

2. Connect the probes to the circuit to be checked. The display shows
the actual resistance value. If the circuit resistance is 50 (+/-30)
ohms or less, the buzzer sounds continuously to indicate there is
    sufficient continuity.

Note: During continuity checks, when there is not a specific resistance
connected across the test leads, it is normal for the display to
show OL (over-load indication) because the multimeter detects
       it as an infinite resistance.
