The Tandy 2500 XL delivers a total IBM PC/XT/AT compatibility in a
high-performance environment.
Featuring a 10 MHz Intel 80286 microprocessor, this computer enables you to
run popular software packages and to add industry-standard expansion options.
Many advanced features are standard on the Tandy 2500 XL. These features, as
well as available options are listed below:
*10 MHz Intel 80286 Gives you true Intel 80286 processing power. The 80286
microprocessor is a 16-bit CPU.
Full IBM PC/XT/AT Ensures compatibility with hardware and software built
to the IBM standard for PC/XT/AT.
MS-DOS 3.3 in ROM Provides instant access to commonly used features of
this operating system.
MS-DOS and MS 0S/2 Lets you choose the operating system that best supports
your software.
101-key enhanced Provides easy typing with a standard 101-key layout.
keyboard Features auto-repeat to reduce the number of multiple
keystrokes.
High-Capacity Drives Enables you to read and write both standard-density
3 1/2" and high-density (1.44MB), 3 1/2" diskettes. A
high-density, diskette drive 3 1/2" diskette stores
a large volume of information and easily fits into
your pocket.
Three disk drive Enable you to install storage devices such as hard drives,
bays diskette drives, or tape cartridge systems. The high-
capacity 3 1/2" diskette drive is installed in one of
these bays.
Three,16-bit Permit installation of up to three 16-bit adapters. These
Expansion Slots are full-sized, 13" slots. 16-bit adapters have a higher
data transfer rate than 8-bit adapters.
On-board VGA Provides higher resolution and many more colors than an
EGA adapter. Can emulate the MCGA, EGA, CGA, MDA, and
Hercules standards. Requires a VGA analog monitor (color
or monochrome).
DeskMate in ROM Provides a friendly, easy-to-learn interface to a variety
of useful applications. DeskMate manuals are shipped with
the computer.
Music and Sound Enables you to record, store and play sophisticated music
and sound. Includes an analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog
converter, a built-in speaker, a digital volume control, a
microphone jack, and an earphone jack. The Music and Sound
manual is shipped with the computer.
1MB of dynamic, Enables you to run a variety of software. You can increase
random access this memory to as much as 4MB by replacing the SIMMs on the
memory (DRAM) main logic board.
Built-in diskette Saves you the cost of a diskette controller board and the
drive controller use of a 16-bit slot when you add diskette drives to your
system. This controller supports up to three diskette
drives.
Built-in 16-bit Enable you to add convenient, reliable hard disk storage.
SmartDrive (IDE) Installing a SmartDrive is fast and easy. SmartDrives are
connectors and designed to provide maximum performance at minimum cost.
