Freeware.

Overview:
--------

DUAX is a replacement for the Lights.exe program that is a standard
component of your Windows 95 operating system and resides in the
Windows\System directory.

Duax provides the same information as Lights.exe (bytes sent, bytes
received, connection speed, connection time) plus :

* the brand, type or name of your modem
* an audio alarm signaling when the modem
  connection is established or broken
* a logfile.

Duax is especially useful if you have more than one computer connected
in a local area network and sharing a single modem. Without an audible
alarm one of the computers (the ones without the modem) might establish
unintentional and unnoticed modem connections. Your phone bill doesn't
care whether these connections are intentional or not.

Installation:
------------

1. First, in Explorer, change to your Windows\system directory ;

2. Rename the file Lights.exe to Lights.old ;

3. Unzip Duax.zip to your Windows\system directory ;

4. Whenever a modem connection is made, your system will now use
   the new Lights.exe program.

Uninstalling:
------------

1. In your Windows\system directory:

   a) Delete the following files:

       Lights.exe
       DefaultCon.wav
       DefaultDiscon.wav
       Duax.txt

   b) Rename the file Lights.old to Lights.exe

2. In your Windows directory:

   Delete the following file:

       Lights.ini

   (Lights.ini will not exist if you never changed the default sounds)

3. In the root directory (usually C:\):

   Delete the following file:

       DuaxLog.log

Usage:
-----

Duax will automatically start up whenever a modem connection is
established. Clicking on the "Hide" button minimizes the application
and a flashing telephone will then be visible in the system tray as
long as the modem is online.

Left clicking on the flashing phone restores the application to its
normal size; right clicking produces a pop-up menu that lets you restore
the normal screen or exit Duax (why would anyone do that ?).

When Duax is not minimized, right clicking on its window produces another
pop-up menu offering the options of replacing the default connect and
disconnect sounds with soundfiles (wav-files) of your choice and viewing
the log-file.

Requirements:
------------

Windows 95.
