About HTMLGVIEW

HTMLGVIEW lets you use your internet browser to review graphic files from your local disk drive in a slide show format. It finds all the .gif and .jpg files in the directory it is run from and creates _GVIEW.HTM. You then bring this file up in your browser (perhaps by double-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer). Several buttons are available:

Go - Starts displaying images with a five second pause between them
Pause - Pauses the slide show
+5	- Jumps ahead five graphics, the show keeps running
Back - Moves back one image and pauses the slide show
Next - Moves forward one image, but the slide show keeps running
-5	- Jumps back five graphics, the show is paused
Clear - Clears the display frame and pauses the slide show

Running HTMLGVIEW

When HTMLGVIEW is run, a window is displayed that informs you of the current directory to be scanned. You have two buttons available: Go and Exit. If you click on Go, the window will be updated when the program is done; this typically takes less than three seconds. When the program has run, click on Exit. Go to Windows Explorer and double-click on the file named _GVIEW.HTM. Note that if Windows Explorer was already open in the target directory, the file _GVIEW.HTM will appear at the *end* of the list of files. When Windows Explorer is refreshed it will then sort to the front of the list of files.

The file _GVIEW.HTM is static; if you add new graphics into the directory, they will not be picked up for the slide show unless you run HTMLGVIEW again. HTMLGVIEW is a small program (~25kb) and I recommend that you copy it into each directory on your local disk that contains graphics. Then whenever you want to update the slide show, just run it again.

This program is written in Visual Basic and requires the VB .dll to be present on your system. It has been tested with W95 and Communicator 4.03.
