---------------------------------------
1. Version 2.2 incoporates the following new features and fixes:
- Improved logic for the system tray icon, now called the DeskShow Task Monitor.
If the monitor is active, and you close the main window, you do not lose the monitor icon.
Also, if you exit the monitor from the pop-up menu from the system tray, you do not
kill the main window if it is open.
- Added ability to launch multiple independent ScreenShows from inside DeskShow, from
the DeskShow Task monitor, or using command line switches.
- Added hot keys to control ScreenShow features (full screen/windowed, timer, random
settings) while a ScreenShow is running.
- Improved the user interface for the Add Files dialog, so that you do not have to leave
the window each time you select and Add files. You can now incrementally add files to the
list without leaving the Window, and just press Done or Cancel to exit the window when desired.
- Added an Add Folders command and dialog to allow you to add all image files from a folder,
and its subfolders if desired, in a single step.
- Removed support for GIF files due to patent issues with Unisys corporation. Unisys
prohibits the use of the LZW compression algorithm that GIF and compressed TIFF files
use in shareware products.
- Fixed bug where settings made in the preferences dialog were lost if the browse or change
colors button was pressed.

2. Ordering and Registration Information
Thank you for your interest in registering DeskShow. This program is
distributed as shareware, with the intent that if you find the program
useful and would like to continue using it legally beyond the trial period
of 30 days, you should order a registered version of the program.

Registering DeskShow is as simple as paying a modest registration fee
and obtaining a registration code which you will enter into DeskShow to
transform the trial version into a registered version. This transformation
can also be accomplished by downloading a registration key file and installing
it in the same directory as the program. Either method works the same.
You do not get anything additional by obtaining the registration key file,
so for most people, the registration code is the best route to go.

To register DeskShow and pay the registration fee, please visit our website
at http://domeworks.com for up to date registration information and payment methods.

The cost of registration for DeskShow is a mere $12.95, for which you
obtain the registration code/keyfile, free updates for two years, and
free technical support for using the DeskShow program.

Once you obtain the registration key, you input the key by bringing up the
"About" dialog from the Help menu, pressing the Register button, and then
entering your registration information in the Register dialog.

Future versions will likely include support for additional image file types,
image file conversions, and other image file utilities and user interface
improvements based on user feedback.

4. Overview
DeskShow is an easy to use Windows graphical utility program which
allows you to automate the use of image files as desktop wallpaper, or
as part of an on-screen slide show. DeskShow also includes a screen
saver module which allows you to use your pre-configured DeskShow
ImageList to display a timed sequence of image files as your screen saver.

DeskShow is designed to allow you to quickly and easily create a list
of image files that are located on your hard drive, CD-ROM, or network.
You can then set preferences for how those files will be displayed, and
let DeskShow run in the background, automatically changing your
desktop wallpaper based on settings that you specify. You can also use
DeskShow to launch a ScreenShow, or on-screen slide show, which you can
use to view images, save or delete them to or from your hard disk, with
manual or automatic sequencing of the images. This ScreenShow feature
can be used as a poor man's presentation application, with DeskShow
allowing you to order your image files as desired and sequence through
them manually, either full screen or in a window. Lastly, you can use
a DeskShow screen saver module to sequence through the image files in a
saved ImageList to provide a slide show-like screen saver of your favorite
image files.

DeskShow supports Windows Bitmap (*.bmp), JPEG (*.jpg), uncompressed
TIFF (*.tif), PNG (*.png), PCX (*.pcx), Targa (*.tga), and Windows
Metafiles (*.wmf) image file formats. It includes an intuitive user
interface in which you manipulate and configure list of files that are used by
DeskShow's wallpaper, ScreenShow, and screen saver features.

DeskShow includes a plethora of modifiable user preferences that are
easily accessed and logically grouped in a single tabbed preferences dialog box.

You can preview the image files included in your DeskShow ImageList by
simply clicking on them in the list, and can use a number of toolbar,
menu, and mouse commands to quickly perform common actions in DeskShow.

DeskShow includes an extensive online help system, including context-sensitive
help topics and thorough coverage of all the features in the program.
There is no need for printed manuals with all the information just a
few mouse clicks away.

DeskShow is distributed as a shareware application that allows you
to try out the fully functional program and decide whether to purchase
the registered version. The unregistered version posts occasional reminders
to the user that they should register the software if they plan to continue
using it, and clearly displays that it is a trial version on the splash
screen, title bar, and About box. It also restricts the number of image files
that you can have in one ImageList.

The only feature that is disabled in the trial version is the ability to
turn off the splash screen that is displayed at program startup. In the
registered version, you can enable or disable the splash screen as desired,
and all of the reminders and unregistered labels go away, and you can have as many
files in an ImageList as desired.

Registering DeskShow is as simple as paying a modest registration fee ($12.95),
after which you will be sent a registration key number, which will unlock
the registered version builds into the software. No need for additional
downloads or installations, you just enter your registration code in the
about box of DeskShow, and the registration is complete.

--------------------------------------------
5. System Requirements
Windows 95/98/NT
16 MB RAM
2 MB Hard Disk
256 Color Video card
Internet Explorer 3.0 or later installed (for comctl32.dll)

--------------------------------------------
6. Installation
If you have previous versions of DeskShow installed on your computer,
it is highly recommended for you to uninstall those first, although it is not
required. To do so, go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select
DeskShow from the list, and press the Add/Remove button.

To run setup, just run the DSSetup.exe executable that you downloaded.

When you run setup, you will be presented with a standard Windows
setup wizard that will lead you through the steps required to
perform the installation. Just answer the questions as desired to complete
the installation.
-------------------------------------------
7. Known problems
The only known incompatibility at release of DeskShow is an interference
between some Voice recognition software and the wallpaper timer in DeskShow.
This problem manifests itself by having some voice commands make the wallpaper change
even if a change is not scheduled. It does not appear to be a problem if the
Timed mode of wallpaper changing is turned off. To avoid this problem, we
recommend you disable your wallpaper timer while using dictation software if
you experience this problem.

You also must have Internet Explorer 3.0 or later installed to ensure you have
the comctl32.dll system file installed that supports tabbed property dialogs
for the preferences dialog.

Version 2.0 incorporates all the functionality of previous versions,
plus the following additions and fixes:
- Complete redesign of the screen saver portion of DeskShow to address some problems
with NT. The screen saver capability of DeskShow is now a separate module that gets
installed to your Windows directory, and can be selected as your system screen saver
either from within DeskShow or from the Windows Display control panel.

.tga, and .wmf files.

- Fixed wallpaper image change logic. In 1.5, you had to have an image selected to get
it to change wallpaper.

pop to front if window not minimized, but just hidden behind other windows.
