O&M Organization & Methods.
OBAM OBject-Action Manager.
OBE Office By Example. OBE models a variety of objects using the
basic relational table paradigm: forms, reports, documents,
address lists, message lists, menus, and so on.
OBEX OBject EXchange.
OBF Output Buffer Full. A flag that is set when the CPU loads the
output buffer and which is cleared when the attached device
                reads the datum.
OC Operand fetch Cycle.
OCR Optical Character Recognition.
OCX Ole Custom controls.
ODB Open DataBase. The OBD product of Hewlett-Packard, based on
the IRIS DBMS developed earlier, combines an object-oriented
data model with a functional data model.
ODBC Open DataBase Connectivity. The most implementations of
databases were initially single-user systems, but recently
they have started offering the client/server database
architecture and are becoming complaint with the Microsoft
ODBC standard. This standard permits the use of many front-
                end tools with these systems.
ODI Open Data-link Interface. A hardware-independent network
interface developed by Novell, Inc. See also NDIS.

OIS Office Information System.
OLAP On-Line Analytical Processing.
OLQ On-Line Query. This interface allows users to ask ad hoc
queries against the database or to abtain formatted reports
                by using predefined queries.
OLTP On-Line Transaction-Processing system. The OLTP system must
support a large number of concurrent transaction without
imposing excessive delays. (e.g airline reservations)
OLVWM Open Look Virtual Window Manager.
OMG Object Management Group.

ONC Open Network Computing.
OO Object-Oriented. The term OO has its origins in OO programming
languages. OO concepts are now applied in the areas of
databases, software engineering, knowledge bases, artificial
intelligence, and computer systems in general. Objects in an
OO programming language exist only during program execution.
OOA Object-Oriented Analysis.
OOBE Out-Of-Box Experience.
OODB Object-Oriented DataBase. The emphasis in OODBs has been on
providing a natural modeling mechanism for real-world objects
by encapsulating their structure with behavior.
OODBMS Object-Oriented DataBase Management System. It is customary
for an OODBMS to be closely coupled with an OO programming
language. The OO programming language is used to specify the
                method implementations.
OODDL Object-Oriented Data Definition Language. An OODDL that
incorporates the preceding type constructors can be used to
define object types for a particular database application.
OOP Object-Oriented Programming.

OS/2 Operating System/2 is the multitasking operating system that
is staking its claim to the dominance of PC systems software
now enjoyed by its predecessor, MS DOS.
OS/2 EE Operating System/2 Extended Edition.
OSF Open Software Foundation
OSI Open Systems Interconnect. The name of the protocol suite
that is based on ISO protocols to create an open system
                interconnection environment. See ISO/OSI.
