Installing D-Link DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter
for Windows 95 & Windows 98 Users

DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter USER'S GUIDE or onscreen instructions,
for Windows 95/98 users regarding DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter
installation.

1.0 Overview
------------

    To install DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter in the Windows 95/98
    environment, you should have the Windows 95/98 CD-ROM nearby.

2.0 Installation Notes For Win95 OSR2 and Win98 Users
-----------------------------------------------------
    Follow the steps to install the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter:

    1. Plug the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter
       into an available ISA slot in your PC, then start your PC.

    2. After starting Windows 95/98 , the D-Link DE-220 Ethernet Card
       will be detected automatically, then the Update Device Driver
       Wizard window appears.

    3. Click the Next button in the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
       Win95 will start to search floppy drive A for network driver,
       and Windows displays the message

       "Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device"

    4. Insert the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter Installation diskette
       into floppy disk drive.

    5. Click the "Other Location..." in the Update Device Driver Wizard
       window, then the Select Other Location window appears.

    6. Type A:\ and click OK button.

    7. Click Finish button,
       then the Win95/98 starts to copy the DE-220 Family Ethernet
       Adapter driver to the user's hard disk.

    8. Restart your computer.


3.0 Installation Notes For Other Win95 Users
--------------------------------------------
    1. Plug the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter
       into an available ISA slot in your PC, then start your PC.

    2. After starting Windows 95 , the D-Link DE-220 Ethernet Card
       will be detected automatically, then
       the D-Link DE220 ISA PnP LAN adapter driver will be loaded.

    3. In the "System Setting Change" window, click on the "No" button.

    4. Click on the "Start" -> "Programs" -> "MS-DOS Prompt".

    5. Change dircetoy to C:\WINDOWS\INF at the MS-DOS Prompt.
       In some systems C:\WINDOWS\INF is hidden.
       It is still possible to change to the directory.

       Example:
                C:\WINDOWS>cd inf

    6. Using any text editor program, modify the NETNOVEL.INF file

       Example:
                C:\WINDOWS\INF>edit netnovel.inf

    7. Locate the "%V_DLink%=DLink" line in the netnovel.inf file,
       and add one semicolon(;) at the front of this line.

    8. Save the file and quit from the text editor program.

    9. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon.

   10. In the "My Computer" window,
       double-click on the "Control Panel" icon.

   11. In the "Control Panel" window, double-click on the "Network" icon.


   12. From the Network window, select/highlight
       "D-Link DE220 ISA PnP LAN adapter".

   13. Click on the Remove button to delete the old driver,
       then click on "OK" button.

   14. In the "System Setting Change" window, click on "Yes" button.
       The Windows 95 system will restart.

   15. After starting Windows 95 , the D-Link DE-220 Ethernet Card
       will be detected automatically.

   16. In the "New Hardware Found" winodw, choose
       "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" item.
       Then click on "OK" button.

   17. Insert DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter driver diskette into
       the floppy disk drive.

   18. In the "Install From Disk" window, specify the path of the driver.

       Example:
                A:\

       Then click on the "OK" button.


   19. Please restart the Windows 95 system.


