Information about Project Gutenberg (one page)
We produce about two million dollars for each hour we work.  The
time it takes us, a rather conservative estimate, is fifty hours
to get any etext selected, entered, proofread, edited, copyright
searched and analyzed, the copyright letters written, etc.   Our
projected audience is one hundred million readers.  If the value
per text is nominally estimated at one dollar then we produce $2
million dollars per hour in 2001 as we release over 50 new Etext
files per month, or 500 more Etexts in 2000 for a total of 4000+
If they reach just 1-2% of the world's population then the total
should reach over 300 billion Etexts given away by year's end.
The Goal of Project Gutenberg is to Give Away One Trillion Etext
Files by December 31, 2001.  [10,000 x 100,000,000 = 1 Trillion]
This is ten thousand titles each to one hundred million readers,
which is only about 4% of the present number of computer users.
At our revised rates of production, we will reach only one-third
of that goal by the end of 2001, or about 4,000 Etexts.  We need
funding, as well as continued efforts by volunteers, to maintain
or increase our production and reach our goals.
The Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation has been created
to secure a future for Project Gutenberg into the next millennium.

      COMPACTE Il fait un temps rigide
        ce matin j'y retrouve les terres
        vierges qui m'habitent puisque hier n'est
        plus mes mots explosent une guerre synthétique
        et brutale s'est soudainement abattue sur mes rêveries comme le temps efface
        tout bouleversement je sens circuler à
        nouveau l'âge du monde dans mes veines il n'est pas en phase
        terminale il rêve peut-être
        aux pierres concassées du mur de Berlin la fatigue gagne du
        terrain le temps et la distance
        me questionnent le doute m'habite je ne crains ni la
        mer ni les nuages je m'éloignerai
        pour un temps en ce moment je préfère
        laisser éclore le présent une liberté
        sauvage m'interpelle je me recouche en
        me disant que la journée peut bien galvauder autour de moi ça va trop
        vite le rideau tombe sous
        une pluie de murmures en liberté je fais face à
        l'éternel retour du corps devenu fauve quand je respire je n'ai d'autre choix
        que de faire quelques brèches ceux d'à-côté
        sont là à vouloir décomposer mon présent hélas la nuit
        n'est pas venue hier je sens que le temps
        n'est plus à la fiction dès que ma
        nuit s'endort c'est un peu comme
        ces histoires qui n'intéressent personne parfois le dimanche sans cesse ils défilent
        dans mon salon je ne suis là
        qu'en passant ce jour parmi les
        loups se dégrade c'est peut-être
        une autre histoire à dormir debout derrière un paravent sans douleur sans
        cris lorsque mes images
        s'en vont expirer dans une phrase je pose ensuite des
        regards indécents sur le monde je peux ainsi énumérer
        par leurs petits noms cette fonction renouvelle
        le silence figée entre
        deux jours trop gris en attendant le lever
        du rideau nous sommes jeudi je sais que tout n'est
        que projection de ce qui n'évolue pas je lorgne parfois
        du côté de la porte sans rien dire il n'y a plus de tragédie |
