Model 17 (160-0409) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 7887

Your Model 17 is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The
following suggestions will help you care for the Model 17 so you can enjoy
it for years.

Keep the Model 17 dry. If it does get wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Liquids can contain minerals that corrode the electronic circuits.

Handle the Model 17 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage its
circuit boards and case and can cause it to work improperly.

Use and store the Model 17 only in normal temperature environments.
Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, and
    distort or melt plastic parts.

Keep the Model 17 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
    wear of parts.

The Model 17 has ventilation holes to allow heat to dissipate
properly. Obstructing these holes or placing the Model 17 in a
confined location can prevent proper ventilation and cause
    malfunctions to occur.

Modifying or tampering with the Model 17's internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate the Model 17's warranty and void your FCC
authorization to operate it. If your Model 17 is not operating as it
should, the suggestions in the troubleshooting chart might help. If you
still need assistance, take the Model 17 to your local Radio Shack store
for assistance.

CABINET CLEANING

Wipe the front panel and other exterior surfaces of the Model 17 with a
clean, soft, dry cloth. Use a soft cloth dampened in lukewarm water to
remove stains.

CAUTION: Never use a solvent or alcohol. Do not use spray cleaners or
insecticides near the Model 17. Such chemicals might damage or
          discolor the exposed surfaces.

HEAD CLEANING

Take the Model 17 to a Radio Shack store where head cleaning by a
qualified technician can be arranged.

CAUTION: Have the heads cleaned only when the picture quality is affected
and only by a qualified technician.
