ENTERING YOUR ID NUMBER AND LOGO

1. Set the resolution switch to HALF TONE and set the reception mode
switch to MANUAL.
2. Press and hold down [START/COPY] for about 4 seconds, until your fax
machine sounds a long tone. All indicators light.
3. Press [START/COPY] the number of times that matches the character's
row number. For example, if the row number is 3, press [START/COPY]
three times.
Note: If you do not press a button within about 1 minute of the previous
press, the fax machine returns to the standby mode. If this
happens, return to step 2.
4. Press [STOP].
5. Press [START/COPY] the number of times that matches character's column
number. For example, if the column number is 4, press [START/COPY]
four times.
6. Press [STOP]. The character is now programmed.
7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for each character.
8. When you finish entering your ID number or logo, press [STOP] once
more. A Transmit Terminal Identification report automatically prints
out so that you can check your ID (or logo).
9. To set your logo, repeat steps 3 through 8. If you want to change to
the standby mode without setting your logo, press [STOP] again. A
Transmit Terminal Identification that shows the current logo
automatically prints out.
Note: If you make a mistake while you set your ID number or logo, press
[STOP] repeatedly until the VOICE REQUEST and IN USE indicators
turn off. Then, start again from Step 2.
After you set your ID number and logo, set the resolution and reception
mode switches to the desired position.
SWITCHING FROM PULSE TO TONE
If you have pulse (rotary) service, you can still take advantage of touch-
tone services, such as alternate long-distance. To use this feature, do
the following:
1. Dial the special service's number using pulse dialing.
2. When the special service answers, set [PULSE/TONE] to TONE.
3. Dial the remaining numbers required by the service.
4. After you finish using the service, set [PULSE/TONE] back to PULSE.
USING A FLASH
Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal. The [FLASH]
button provides the electronic equivalent of this signal.
For example, if you have call waiting(a service available from most
telephone companies), you can put the first call on hold and take a second
incoming call on the same line by pressing [FLASH]. Pressing [FLASH]
again lets you alternate between the two calls.
Notes: If you press [FLASH] when you dial a number, only the numbers
dialed before you press [FLASH] are stored in redial memory.
If you do not subscribe to a service that uses a switchhook
signal, do not press [FLASH] during a call. You might disconnect
the call.
ADDING A PAUSE TO PHONE NUMBERS
Some telephone systems require that you dial an access number(9, for
example) for an outside line. You can add a pause for redialing or memory
dialing, so that dialing automatically pauses for about 2 seconds after
the access number is dialed, to give the outside line time to connect.
To add a pause for redial, enter the access number, press [REDIAL/PAUSE],
and enter the phone number.
To add a pause for memory dialing, follow the above procedure when you
store a number in memory.
Note: If you need more than a 2 second pause during dialing, press
[REDIAL/PAUSE] more than once when you add a pause. Each press of
[REDIAL/PAUSE] adds about 2 seconds to the pause.
