Two-Tone Siren (490-0487) Installation Faxback Doc. # 7391

Because the siren is weatherproof, you can install it outside your
home or vehicle. However, it is best to position the horn downward
so that it does not collect rain or moisture, preferably under the
eaves in a residential installation. In a mobile installation, be
sure not to mount the siren above a source of heat or where rainwater
can be directed into it by the vehicle's forward motion.

To Mount the Siren

1. Remove the two screws which connect the metal bracket and the
    main unit.

2. Secure the siren bracket to the mounting location using two
    screws with nuts (not provided).

3. Place the siren in the bracket and secure it using the screws
    removed in steps 1.

Manual Control Wiring

You can wire the siren to sound one of two types of tones (steady or
rising-and-falling).

Black wire: Connect to negative side of 12 volts DC
(supplied from vehicle's battery or output
                      terminal of an alarm system).

Green wire: For Steady tone, connect to positive side of 12
                      volts DC.

Red wire: For rise-and fall tone, connect to positive
                      side of 12 volts DC.

Warning: If you are not using one of the wires, be sure to insulate
the bare end with electrical tape.

Switch Control Wiring

You can conveniently select the steady or rise-and fall tone wired
through a "panic" switch so that you do not have to change the
positive side of 12 volts DC to the red wire frequency to obtain the
rise-and-fall tone and to the green wire to get the steady tone.
