Scope:
------
This firmware update can be applied to the following 2.5" 
Hard Disk Drives for the IBM ThinkPad 600:

Fixes:
------
 - Fixes audio stutter that may occur during playback of some "AVI" type 
   files.
 - Fixes false I9990301 POST error that may occur when the hdd password
   is entered incorrectly.



Instructions for Applying the Update:
-------------------------------------
The hard disk drive firmware update must be applied from the bootable
update diskette, as described below. The update utility cannot be run
from the hard disk drive.


  - Shutdown the operating system and turn the ThinkPad power off.
  - Insert the firmware update diskette.
  - Turn the ThinkPad power on.
  - Wait for the ThinkPad to boot until the utility software 
    screen appears. 
  - After the drive is listed on the screen, type <y> and press the Enter 
    key to select the drive.
  - After the firmware is prepared (as indicated on the screen), type <y> 
    and press the Enter key. Then the firmware update will begin.

  - After the update is complete, remove the diskette and turn off 
    the ThinkPad. Wait 5 seconds before turning the ThinkPad on again.

  Note: If no applicable hard disk drive is found in the ThinkPad, or if
        the update has already been applied to the hard disk drive in
        the ThinkPad, the following message will be displayed:

           "1) port 0 master 'hdd model' is not supported by this tool."

                  where 'hdd model' is the model of the hdd detected by
                  the utility.


Warning: 
--------
(1) Power should be supplied by the AC adapter with a charged battery
    installed!

(2) Do not hit <Alt>+<Ctrl>+<Delete>,
    <Alt>+C, <Ctrl>+<Break> during download of the firmware!

(3) At the start of downloading the firmware, the progress indicator
    displays "0%" for about 10 seconds. This is normal.
